Microsoft 365 Essentials
A sequenced technology-learning series that teaches the platform through the work people actually do, rather than through feature tours.
The problem
Staff had full access to the productivity platform and were still doing the work the slow way, because training covered features instead of tasks.
What I designed
Sequence the series around recurring work tasks, storyboard each segment to a single decision or action, and pair every segment with a reference someone can use mid-task.

Technology learning sequenced around real tasks
- Format
- Sequenced series with performance support
- Organizing unit
- One task, one decision, one segment
- Design role
- Curriculum sequence, storyboards, media production
The series cover sheet. The series teaches the platform through recurring work tasks rather than a feature tour. No product logos or proprietary screens are reproduced.
Tutorial storyboard
The storyboard frames. Each frame commits to a single action, with narration and on-screen emphasis planned together.
Sequence
Learning sequence
- 01 · OrientWhere the work lives and how it moves between people.
- 02 · Core taskThe single most repeated action, done properly once.
- 03 · CollaborateShared editing, versions, and the handoff that usually breaks.
- 04 · OrganizeStructure that survives someone else opening the file.
- 05 · SupportThe reference that carries the work after the session ends.
The sequence page. Segments are ordered by how often the task recurs in the work, not by how the product organizes its menus.
Checkpoint
QA and checkpoint panel
“Every segment ends with the learner doing the task once, unassisted, in their own file.”
- One action per screen
- Emphasis follows the cursor, not the narration
- Checkpoint before progression
Close-up of the checkpoint design and the instructional screen composition rules.
Structural view of the work — not a page from the source file
How the system fits together
Curriculum sequence, storyboard design, and production of the learning media.
